“When I heard his amazing ‘Poker Face,’ I knew we had been blessed with a first-rate composer and lyricist.  It was a really smart sophisticated song.”

- Dominic Missimi, director of Waa-Mu, Northwestern University

WILL BUCK is a composer, lyricist, and pianist, originally hailing from Lake Bluff, IL.  In 2008, he was selected as one of 16 young songwriters from across the country to participate in the Johnny Mercer Songwriter’s Project, where he attended master classes with Broadway writers Andrew Lippa and Craig Carnelia, and pop singer/songwriter Lari White.

Will received a B.M. in Music Composition from Northwestern University in 2010, where he contributed 20 songs to the school’s prestigious Waa-Mu show. Will’s original song cycle, LEARNING TO PLAY, received its inaugural reading at Northwestern in the spring of 2010, and was performed at the Laurie Beechman theatre in New York as part of Northwestern senior showcase.

Immediately after college, Will worked intimately with The Music Theatre Company of Highland Park, IL, contributing music and lyrics to HAPPYFOODS as part of their Theatre for Young Artists program, as well as music, lyrics, and book to A MOMENT IN THE SUN, an original 15-minute musical, for their 48-Hour Musical project.

Will is currently enrolled as a composer in the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at Tisch School of the Arts.  In May of 2012, his 20-minute musical, TOYBOX, with book and lyrics by Teresa Lotz, received a professional reading at the school.  In addition to his work in the program, he is currently working on a full-length musical, POWERLESS, with bookwriter John Grimmett.
